Power Outage

Leaves in the Fall
Are running out of time
And I see it all
Through these paper blinds
They sleep and they hold
On for one more night
As warm turns to cold
They each give up the fight
And they can haunt me a lot
Losing color, they find another
Season gone
And with coming down
A winter waiting and decaying
Tomorrow
They've served their purpose for the tree
Now it's time to go
Power outage in my soul
From the wind and cold
We all learn to love
But try it if you dare
A green gift from above
Will cripple in the air
Moments abound
A beautiful lie
To keep them around
Impossible to try
And they can haunt me a lot
Keeping color, they find another
Bone dry page
Trying not to show their age
Power outage in my soul
From the wind and cold
Sometimes I think of that old movie
Seasons of the heart
Hers is going through winter right now
The worst part
Will this square child fill the round hole
In her heart
It took the one truth that life had
Gave it a brand new start
Tear in my eye
As I turn 25
And I hope I get to do this
Three more times
Cause this will lose color and age
Or stay lifeless on a blank page
But leaves in the fall
Are running out of time

Three months inside our shelter
Doc says that we'll be better
Could this answer the question
Of pulmonary consumption
Who's to say?
But down below
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
Though we're cold
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
This air inside stays so still
Guess I will see the downhill
But for now what will cure my
Black eyes missing the sunshine
Who's to say?
But down below
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
Though we're cold
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
Picturesque but so gloomy
And not exactly roomy
I've read this book three times now
The coughing's louder, but how?
Who's to say?
But down below
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
Though we're cold
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
But down below
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
Though we're cold
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
But down below
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
Though we're cold
We're singing la
La-ee-ah-oh
